Student Services

Student Visas — F-1, F-2 & M

Nonimmigrant student visas let international students study in the United States. The F-1 covers academic programs, the M-1 covers vocational training, and the F-2 covers accompanying dependents — including work authorization through OPT and CPT.

OPT & STEM OPT Work Authorization

Optional Practical Training (OPT) lets F-1 students work in their field of study for up to 12 months. Graduates of qualifying STEM programs can extend that authorization by an additional 24 months through the STEM OPT extension.

F-1 Reinstatement

F-1 reinstatement lets a student who has fallen out of status — through a missed deadline, dropped course load, or unauthorized work — ask USCIS to restore their lawful F-1 standing so they can continue their studies in the United States.

Employment Immigration

Employment-based immigration covers temporary work visas and permanent residence through a job, talent, or investment. Categories include EB-1, EB-2 (with the National Interest Waiver), EB-3, H-1B, O-1, L-1, and the PERM labor-certification process.

EB-1A Visa — Extraordinary Ability

The EB-1A is a first-preference, employment-based green card for individuals with extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics. No employer sponsorship required.

EB-1B — Outstanding Professor or Researcher

The EB-1B is a first-preference, employment-based green card for outstanding professors and researchers with international recognition in their academic field. Requires an employer sponsor and a permanent research or tenure-track offer.

EB-2 NIW — National Interest Waiver

The EB-2 National Interest Waiver lets advanced-degree professionals and individuals of exceptional ability self-petition for a green card without a job offer or PERM labor certification, by showing their work serves the U.S. national interest.

H-1B — Specialty Occupation Visa

The H-1B is a temporary work visa that lets U.S. employers hire foreign professionals in specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree. We handle the cap lottery, cap-exempt filings, transfers, extensions, and RFE responses.

O-1 — Extraordinary Ability Visa

The O-1 is a temporary work visa for individuals with extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics, or extraordinary achievement in film and television. It offers fast, flexible work authorization with no annual cap.

L-1 — Intracompany Transferee (L-1A / L-1B)

The L-1 visa lets multinational companies transfer executives, managers, and specialized-knowledge employees from a foreign office to a related U.S. office. L-1A covers managers and executives; L-1B covers specialized-knowledge workers.

PERM Labor Certification (EB-2 / EB-3)

PERM is the Department of Labor process that an employer completes to sponsor a foreign worker for an EB-2 or EB-3 green card. It certifies that no qualified, willing U.S. worker is available for the role at the prevailing wage.

Artists, athletes, and entertainers have dedicated U.S. visa routes. The O-1B is for individuals of extraordinary ability in the arts or achievement in film and television, while the P visas cover internationally recognized athletes, entertainment groups, and cultural programs.

O-1B — Artists & Entertainers

The O-1B visa is for individuals with extraordinary ability in the arts, or a record of extraordinary achievement in motion pictures and television. It supports flexible, project-based work for actors, musicians, designers, directors, and other creative professionals.

P-1 — Athletes & Entertainers

The P-1 visa is for internationally recognized athletes — competing individually or as part of a team — and for members of internationally recognized entertainment groups coming to the United States to perform or compete.

P-2 & P-3 — Exchange & Culturally Unique

The P-2 visa covers artists and entertainers entering under a reciprocal exchange program, and the P-3 covers those coming to perform, teach, or coach under a culturally unique program. Both support international artists whose work enriches U.S. cultural life.

Investment Immigration

EB-5 immigrant investor green card and E-2 treaty investor visa.

Investment Immigration

Investment immigration lets entrepreneurs and investors live and work in the United States by putting capital into a U.S. business. The two main routes are the EB-5 Immigrant Investor green card and the E-2 Treaty Investor visa for nationals of treaty countries.

EB-5 — Immigrant Investor

The EB-5 program offers a green card to investors who place $1,050,000 — or $800,000 in a targeted employment area — into a new U.S. commercial enterprise that creates at least ten full-time jobs. It is open to nationals of any country.

E-2 — Treaty Investor

The E-2 Treaty Investor visa lets nationals of treaty countries live in the U.S. to develop and direct a business in which they have made a substantial investment. It is a renewable nonimmigrant visa with no fixed dollar minimum and relatively fast processing.

B-1/B-2 visitor visas, Visa Waiver (ESTA), and TN professionals.

Temporary & Visitor Visas

Temporary and visitor visas let you enter the United States for business, tourism, medical care, or short-term professional work. They include the B-1/B-2 visitor visa, the Visa Waiver Program (ESTA), and TN status for USMCA professionals.

B-1/B-2 Visitor Visa

The B-1/B-2 is the standard U.S. visitor visa. The B-1 covers temporary business activity such as meetings and conferences, and the B-2 covers tourism, visiting family, and medical treatment. Visitors are usually admitted for up to six months.

Visa Waiver Program (ESTA)

The Visa Waiver Program lets citizens of participating countries visit the United States for up to 90 days for tourism or business without a visa, after obtaining an ESTA travel authorization. It does not allow employment, extensions, or change of status.

TN Visa — USMCA Professionals

TN status lets Canadian and Mexican citizens work in the United States for a U.S. employer in a profession listed under the USMCA. It is granted in increments of up to three years, can be renewed indefinitely, and is one of the fastest work-authorized routes available.

Family Immigration

Marriage & fiancé visas, family petitions, removal of conditions.

Family Immigration

Family-based immigration reunites U.S. citizens and permanent residents with their relatives. It covers immediate relatives, the family-preference categories (F1–F4), the K-1 fiancé(e) visa, and both adjustment of status and consular processing.

Marriage-Based Green Card (IR-1 / CR-1)

A marriage-based green card lets the spouse of a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident become a permanent resident. IR-1 is issued when the marriage is over two years old; CR-1 is conditional when it is younger.

K-1 Fiancé(e) Visa

The K-1 visa allows the fiancé(e) of a U.S. citizen to enter the United States to marry within 90 days of arrival, then apply for a green card. It is the most direct route for couples who plan to marry in the U.S.

Removal of Conditions (Form I-751)

Conditional permanent residents who obtained a green card through a marriage under two years old must file Form I-751 to remove the conditions and receive a 10-year green card, jointly with their spouse or with a waiver.

Humanitarian Immigration

Asylum, VAWA self-petitions, U visas, and T visas for survivors.

Humanitarian Immigration

Humanitarian immigration protects people fleeing persecution, surviving abuse, or helping bring criminals to justice. It includes asylum, VAWA self-petitions for abuse survivors, U visas for crime victims, and T visas for survivors of human trafficking.

Asylum

Asylum protects people already in the United States who cannot safely return home because they fear persecution on account of race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group. It is generally requested within one year of arrival.

VAWA Self-Petition

The Violence Against Women Act lets an abused spouse, child, or parent of a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident petition for immigration status on their own — confidentially, without the abuser's knowledge, cooperation, or control. Protection is available to women and men.

U Visa — Crime Victims

The U visa is for victims of qualifying crimes who suffered substantial physical or mental harm and who help law enforcement investigate or prosecute the offense. It provides temporary status, work authorization, and a path to a green card.

T Visa — Trafficking Survivors

The T visa protects survivors of severe forms of human trafficking who are in the United States because of trafficking and who comply with reasonable requests from law enforcement. It offers status, work authorization, and a path to a green card.

Appeals & Litigation

When an immigration case is questioned, denied, or stuck, you still have options. We handle responses to RFEs and NOIDs, appeals and motions before the AAO and the BIA, and federal-court litigation — including mandamus actions to compel delayed decisions.

RFE & NOID Responses

A Request for Evidence (RFE) or Notice of Intent to Deny (NOID) is a chance to save your case before USCIS decides it. A complete, well-argued response filed within the deadline often turns a questioned petition into an approval.

AAO Appeals

The Administrative Appeals Office (AAO) reviews many denied USCIS petitions, including certain employment and humanitarian cases. An appeal is filed on Form I-290B, generally within 30 days, and is decided on a fresh legal review of the record.

BIA Appeals & Motions

The Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) reviews decisions of immigration judges, including removal orders and denied applications for relief. Appeals are generally filed within 30 days, and motions to reopen or reconsider can challenge a decision on new facts or legal error.

Federal-Court Litigation

When USCIS or the State Department unreasonably delays a decision or acts unlawfully, federal court may be the answer. A writ of mandamus can compel action on a stalled case, and an Administrative Procedure Act claim can challenge an unlawful decision.
